History

1982

In 1982, MDA was initiated by Professor Ts. Norovpil, PhD, Professor, Honored
Doctor, who at that time worked as the head of the Oral Medicine Branch of the
Mongolian Medical Association and the chief specialist of the dental branch council
of the Ministry of Health.

Main purpose of the organization is to develop quality dental care in Mongolia,
protect the legal rights of dental professionals, and improve the professional
education of the dentists.

Mongolian Dental Association was established as Mongolian Medical Association in
1982. The chairman at that time was associate professor Demberel Bazar, PhD,
head of Health Protection Organization and Public Health Sector of the Institute of
Medicine.

1984

1982-1984:
Ts. Norovpil has been appointed as the head of the Oral Medicine Branch of the
Mongolian Medical Association. At that time, she was the head of the Department of
Dentistry, Mongolian Medical University and the general specialist of the Department
of Dentistry of the Ministry of Health as well.

1991

In 1991, she participated in the FDI World Dental Federation’ Congress in Milan, Italy
and met with FDI general secretary R. A. Zillen. During this meeting, MDA joined as
a member of the FDI World Dental Federation.

1993

In 1993, Dr. T. Dorj, PhD, was elected as the first head of the association, and now
the 8th President Dr. T. Uchral, MSc, was elected and is working. During this time,
the number of members is increasing, and it is working closely with many foreign
professional associations.

MDA is working close ties with professional associations, government agencies, the
Ministry of Health, the Metropolitan Health Department, public and private dental
universities in Mongolia.

1994

In January 1994, when APDF or the 17th Dental Congress of Asia-Pacific countries
was held in Singapore, Professor Ts. Norovpil represented Mongolia and became
one of the member countries.
